Martin & Koren
October 9, 2021

We were set up by our two best friends: Nick and Christine Piepmeier (yes! they are married - see below). Nick has been Martin's friend since they were in middle school and lived next door to each other. And Christine has been my best friend since we met at Wake Forest. Nick and Christine realized that the two of us would make an excellent couple way back in 2016. In fact, when I was visiting Christine in Tallahassee that year, they decided to set us up by taking us to get tacos at Taco Libre (RIP). Then we watched the impeccable film Street Fighter and had a game night. Sadly, it wasn't that night that we realized we liked each other (although Martin was thrilled that I visibly enjoyed the movie) - Martin was actually set to move to Denver and I was focused on surviving law school. So we went our separate ways for a while, completely unaware of what we were missing.

Fortunately for us, Nick and Christine didn't let their belief that we'd be a fantastic couple die. So when Nick and Christine got married in March 2018, they came up with a scheme ~so brilliant~ that it was (literally) destined to work. They paired us together as bridesmaid and groomsman at their wedding and left plenty of space for a flirtation to spark. After their wedding, we quickly realized that we had something special. Unfortunately, I was still in law school and the first year of our relationship was entirely long distance. However, it was perfectly obvious to us that we'd do anything to make our relationship work. We spent hours chatting with each other on FaceTime and the number of times Martin drove from Tallahassee to Winston that year was absolutely insane. And it left no doubt in my mind that we were made for each other and that we were meant to be. After I graduated law school, we moved to the same city, which was a pure luxury compared to the long distance life. Then in November 2019, Martin proposed to me at sunset on the grounds of the Biltmore Estate and it truly was the easiest yes I've ever given. We've traversed long distance and a global pandemic and come out strong and ready to be married. (Note below that, fittingly, Nick is Martin's Best Man and Christine is my Maid of Honor).

We plan on traveling a lot in our future. And eating delicious food and attempting ridiculous hobbies and seeing amazing sights as we adventure through life together. We simply can't wait for the journey to begin at our wedding.

Officiant: Mike
What started as two friends in high school sharing classes, playing board games, and getting into random hijinks developed into an amazing friendship. We've been through a lot together and have supported each other through it all. Mike is like a brother to me and I'm honored to have him officiate our wedding.
Christine
I met Christine in January 2013 at Wake Forest University. We became fast friends as we shared a love of history, quality television, and all things nerdy. Through the years, Christine has been a confidant, travel buddy, and a true friend. I'm so honored to have my best friend (and the one who introduced me to my future husband!) stand by my side as my Maid of Honor.
Katie
My friendship with Katie was absolute serendipity. We were randomly placed on the same hall our Freshman year at Wake (shout out to the mold in Johnson basement). It didn't take many hall activities and group bonding excursions to realize that Katie was my type of person. She'd perform dramatic readings for me and explain basic life concepts that I'd somehow missed up to that point (thanks again for showing me how to properly secure the sun visor in my car). We may live far apart now but there's no distance too great to share book and podcast recommendations and a great friendship.
Colleen
It's been a delight to have Colleen in my life. I met her around the same time I met Christine at Wake. I was drawn to Colleen's humor and her passionate zest for life. Now, she's a go-to for gushing about birds and the latest concert we want to attend.
Shannon
Shannon and I have been friends for a long time now, starting with our time at Dance with Mitzi. Shannon has never failed to make me laugh and never failed to be there for me when I needed her. Shannon, thank you for letting me be my weirdest self around you.
Kelsey
Kelsey and I go way back to our Dance with Mitzi days. During that time, we could always be found goofing off at the studio. She has a true heart of gold and I'm so glad to call her friend.
Silke
Silke may be the only reason I made it through law school. We met during our first year of law school. She was there to help me study and to greet me each morning with the evergreen "Another day closer to death." The bond we formed during law school can (legally) never be severed.
Nick
My Best Man, hetero lifemate, and wrestling tag team partner. I moved next door to Nick in middle school and the rest is history. From driving to school every morning, to rooming together in college, to him introducing me to my future wife, Nick's always been there. I'm thankful to have him by my side for this important moment in my life.
Chris
I met Chris through Mike and at the time I didn't know that Mike was introducing me to my fantasy sports rival. I'm just going to use this space to talk mad trash about Chris. Remember that one time I beat you in the championship? In your face! Trash talk aside, Chris is always there for me through thick and thin and I couldn't ask for a better friend.
Sam
Sam and I met on the Ultimate Frisbee (Yes, it's a sport) field in high school and went on to have many adventures together. Road trips, hikes, glassware giveaways, grabbing pizza and beer at Hops and Pie, Whatawalks. No matter where life has taken Sam, whether its Denver or Berlin, we've always stayed connected. He's the man.
Joe
Joe and I started as coworkers and became great friends. We met during my first job right out of college and having Joe as a coworker made it a delightful experience. Work just isn't the same without a Nerf gun nearby. Joe is always there when you need him. Even if you just want to grab wings and beer. Or spicy chicken.
Al
This man just showed up in my life one day when Mike invited him to hang out and our friendship has grown from there. We realized we share a lot of the same interests: art films like Jaws 3D, Eli Manning, and FSU football. He's a great person and friend and I'm glad he will be standing by my side on the day of my wedding.
Alex
Alex and I met in high school and bonded over nerdy stuff through the years. He's a wizard at making cocktails with Mountain Dew and carrying the team when we play Rocket League. I always have a blast talking and hanging out with him and I'm excited he's going to be part of this special occasion.
